A re-release onto compact disc of the Marc Wagnon "Shadowlines" album with musicians from the downtown New York scene, including trumpeter Dave Douglas, pianist Dave Kikoski, saxophonist Bob Malach, trombonist Carl Reinlib, bass clarinetist Michael Lytle, guitarists Nick Didkowski and Mark Lampariello, bassists Leo Traversa, Yossi Fine and Mike Lesie, and drummer Jim Mussen.

Reviews:

Noted jazz writer, Bill Milkowsky also gives Wagnon a glowing endorsement in the album's liner notes, which I wholly agree with. This album can be seen as an initial endeavor by a talented player who has expanded his writing skills to encompass a wider palette. - JeffMelton Exposé

“Electronic vibraphonist Marc Wagnon plays challenging new music that seems to confuse rock and swing, inside ballad playing with outside noise,and structure with anarchy in a delightful way. A must hear”. K n i t t i n g F a c t o r y K n o t e s

“Marc Wagnon ‘Shadowlines’- sporting excellent sound, ..Using a crew of horns, bass clarinet, guitar, bass, drums and vibes, the music has some very fluid lines on the top, a funky sort of bottom, some honkin' and squealin', hairpin turns etc. It's joyous music that's hot clear and hoppin'.’Solstice’ is the showcase cut, and everybody winds up to a wonderful climax.” Tom Groove Option

Your adrenaline will most certainly rise while listening to Shadowlines! A tour-de-force, hard hitting yet sonorous affair that bridges the gap between similar yet historically detached genres. You get a little of everything here, but the winning formula resides within the strong compositions, near flawless execution, meaningful solos and overall sense of unity! This is craftsmanship of an exalted order. Highly recommended! Glenn Astarita allaboujazz.com
