Percussionist and composer Marc Wagnon was born in Switzerland, where he studied classical percussion at the Geneva Conservatory. He has lived in the United States since the 1980s, where he studied composition and mallet technique on the vibraphone at the Berklee School in Boston, then moved to New York City to further his jazz performance and percussion skills. Since that time, Marc has toured the U.S., Europe, Japan and Brazil, and can be heard on over 20 recordings, including 4 solo albums.

Marc’s interest in electronics led him to push the boundaries of live performance with the “electronic vibraphone”, where he is recognized as a pioneer on this instrument.

Beside a performer and a composer, Marc teaches workshops here and in Europe, and is very involved in making computers accessible to visually impaired musicians. Marc has written an iBook, titled “Drum Talk”, which demonstrates the techniques he developed during his many years teaching ensembles of all ages at the Filomen M. D’Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York City.

Hello! I'm looking forward to be your drum teacher. I've been playing drums for over 40 years and teaching for the past 30 years. During this time, I've had the pleasure of performing with various bands, ranging from rock and jazz to classical ensembles. I thought in several school in New York City (Greenwich Music School and The Lighthouse Music School as well as the EJMA music school in Lausanne Switzerland. I am particularly interested in Jazz and Jazz fusion, and African and Brazilian music

My teaching philosophy centers around making music fun and accessible while building a solid technical foundation. Whether you're just starting or you're looking to hone your advanced skills, my goal is to help you find your unique voice on the drums. I tailor my lessons to your individual goals and interests to keep us motivated and engaged.

Outside of teaching, I have a wide range of interests from composing, producing, and performing. I'm here to support you on your musical journey and to ensure that our sessions are both productive and enjoyable.

In our lessons, we'll cover everything from the basics of rhythms and timing to techniques like advanced snare rudiments and complex polyrhythms. Whether style you're into, I will work on building your confidence and creativity as a drummer.
